In todays society, your wedding day is one of the greatest days of your life and you should have the perfect photographer to capture every moment so you never forget any of it. Todd Laffler is a wedding photographer that was named on of the top ten wedding photographers by American Photo. He is an amazing wedding photographer that captures many moments you don't even notice at the wedding when your there. He gets angles from above and captures the entire moment, he gets them from far away grasping the idea the couple is an major part of something bigger. On of my favorite images is the second to last one of the couple in front of the city. It is absolutely breathtaking. Truly an amazing picture to have framed in the couples home.

Todd began his career at the age of 17, his mother was this first one to give him a camera and teach him how to develop and theoretically become a photographer. Todd did not start with weddings, he started shooting skateboarding and actually produced his own skateboard photography magazine. He went for his BFA in Photography at Maryland Institue College of Art.

Todd prides himself in his artistic candid approach, the real tell tail of how good he is are from reviews from customers. On weddingwire.com Todd has never received below a 4.8 out of 5. The only thing knocking down his score was responsiveness, probably because he has so many clients.

As a want to be photographer I absolutely love wedding photography, to be able to capture people special day and give them something to look back at and relive that day is amazing. It is also a very difficult task and I really feel Todd is amazing at it. While you can still get your stereotypical shots that are needed, he gives so much more all of his images are so artistic its like you have become a piece of art, each picture isn't just a portrait or candid it is a piece of art, its interesting and creative. He really does more then just the typical he goes above and beyond. I also love his hidden approach, kinda like the last image, like where was he hiding that is an amazing photo for the simple fact it is a true smile, true bliss not just created because they see the camera in front of them. So obviously I found my wedding photographer (if I can afford him). I hope you guys enjoyed his photos as much as me!

  1. Hi Christine! Great choice in photographer, I have never heard of Todd Laffler. I really enjoy how he takes an occasion that most people are familiar with and turn it into something more. He chooses neat perspectives that distort the image and make the viewer look at a stereotypical wedding picture much differently. I really like how he uses both shallow and large DOF, it makes for interesting views. My personal favorite photo is of the couple in the cornfield with the beam of sun glistening through. That is such an amazing frame, perspective and timing to choose to shoot someone. It really captures an unique moment in a newly-wedded couples lives that makes their photos one-of-a-kind. Like you mentioned, he definitely is able to capture some amazing candid moments that otherwise would be ephemeral. I'm sure his clients definitely appreciate that aspect of his work. I think I even see some similarities between his work and yours, specifically your DOF series :). Thanks for your research, I'm glad I got to learn about him!

  2. Hi Christine!

Congratulations on finishing summer 1! hopefully you can take some real time to finally do absolutely nothing! Todd's photos are very Disney esque and fantastical (in a good way) it is like todd finds that disney moment, that magical moment of pure joy. His compositions are very strong and his subjects could not be more joyful, however because I am a little crazy there is something kind of dark about these photos as well. There is a large amount of hopefulness and bliss associated with weddings, but the unknown future makes these moments of the present fleeting, and maybe for some – regrettable. But that is the fine artist in me seeing the dark side of something so in your face happy. But, overall soem really fun images of pure joy!

  3. Hi Christine! I love Todd's photos and the romance he is able to capture in each of the images. It is no surprise that he has been photographing since the age of 17 and his experience with contrast and angles is easily displayed. Overall great work on your research project and work this semester!

  4. Hi Christine,

Laffler took a very creative take on wedding photos. I'm especially impressed by the aerial view pictures he took. He obviously puts a lot of thought into his photographs, sending his clientele home with more than just any wedding photo. I also like the variety he took in all of his photos, not a single one similar to the next. The favorite one for me out of this set is the twelfth one. As I mentioned, it is really impressive that he got such a great aerial view of the couple walking together. I also like it for how the shadows just stretch out in front of the couple. You did a great job in your research project, and I hope you do get him as your photographer in the future.
