  1. Hey Luke, these are awesome shots, you always work in some humor, love it. I love the change in viewpoint from the closer shots of the flower to the wider-angled shots of the building and the cityscape in the background of the sculpture image. I also like how you start playing around with the position of the subject in the foreground related to it's background and how the two interact such as in the last image. It's fun to view and really well thought-out. Good job!

  2. Hey luke, i really enjoy all of your images i love the flower and the sign of broad street, both are very interesting images and i love the framing. the image of broad street is very interesting i love how you captured the street light and also the divine lorane (spelling?) in the background, i love that building. I think they are your strongest for sure. the first image is interesting also and definitely works. Your self portrait is great, funny and totally shows where you live. great job!

  3. Hey Luke!
Im going to start from the bottom and go up. Nice self portait! lol both you and the woman that is painted have really different directions or emotions on your face. I like that you had fun with this one as the other really hit the nail on the head.
I really appreciate your rose picture. Sometimes even finding a rose not eaten by beetles is hard. The season is early though. Its so close that the light plays the effect of even going through some of the pedals which is really cool. It gives us a different way to look at it,becuase I know my eyes are not good enough to get that kind of detail.
The whole 666 broad and the dark sky is kinda cool and defiantly fulfilling of the requirements.

  4. Hey Luke,

very interesting explorations. I really enjoyed the subject matter of your first photo, that tree is an incredible sculpture. I really enjoyed the contrast of the man made "tree" next to the skyscraper. Really interesting showing an artist mimicking nature impressively next to an iconic made made skyscraper. Your second photo has some great angles working. It really packs in a lot into one photo. I really like how you paid attention to your cropping as well, excellent work. I also enjoyed the images of the arrows and how the top of the dicine lorrain looks like an arrow- interesting. You could spend the rest of your life photographing that building, such an incredible and romantically tragic structure. Your third image i see you really pumped up the vibrance/saturation of the flower. I am not sure i got your choice of focus, my eye kept wanting the center of the flower to be the focal point. however overall very nice contrast. Your last photo is really fun and a great use of forced perspective. great work!

  5. Hey Luke! I really loved this collection of photos and the uniqueness to each image. The first one really stood out to me and there was almost an omonious feeling with the dark gray sky and the unearthly medal sculpture. It really captured the expansive skyline of the city and I love the pop of red from the other artwork in the left corner. Your next two contrast one another really nicely, the urban street sign and the delicate flower. This is really the essence of city life. There is so much grit yet many hidden beauties. Your last picture is by far my favorite and made my laugh. I love how you used DOF to play off the mural and look as though you are about to kiss the women. Very clever! The composition is great and overall you did an awesome job on this assignment!

  6. Hi Luke,

These photos area great, and it was really easy for me to tell where you were trying to describe where you live. I love how in the second photo that the picture is so clear that I can read all the graffiti on the building. The angle that you took for this also made the building very ominous looking, which I think actually suits it. The first photo is a good example of large dof as well, a nice clear photo of the sculptures, trees and skyline put into excellent focus. I really like your self portrait. It is very creative and funny how you are interacting with the mural behind you. I have to commend you on how you saw a good opportunity and you took it.
The fourth picture is a good example of shallow dof, however the rose (the subject) seems to fall out of focus a bit on the edges. Even though it looses focus towards its edge, I could still see the little bead of water on the petal; so given that it is a little out of focus, that is still some good detail.
Overall, I believe you completed this weeks assignment very well. Your pictures are beautiful and easily describe where you were trying to say where you live. I'm glad I got to see what photos you took this week, and look forward to what else you will show for the rest of the semester.

  7. Hey Luke! Great pictures. I can see from your Divine Lorraine shot, that we’re practically neighbors. I loved the composition of this shot, and the angle you took it from gives the building a new perspective to where tis placed. The third picture shows a great use of shallow DOF. The lighting you captured on the rose is very beautiful, and the mix of two colors gives it a lot of depth.
