  1. Hey Lauren, looks like you had some arts and crafts time to keep you occupied for the rainy weather. Good idea!. Really good way to tell the story I like how it has a definite beginning middle and end which fits the assignment really well. I can tell by the end that you are an experienced drawer and very talented. I like that you were able to communicate your decision process with each picture. Everything is lit and framed really well and I think my favorite photo would be the one where the markers are spilling out which has a interesting use of depth of field. I think your frames for the second and third photo could have been a little tighter, but other than that all of them are great and I only have good feelings after viewing these. Your selfie is also very nice and you look very relaxed. Overall, I think you completed the assignment to the fullest. Good job!

  3. Good day Lauren,
A.C. Moore is an artist toy store. I like how you you keep your narrative in line. You go from the store, to the marker aisle, to the house, to the begining of your art work. I see you tried to give us a DOF example from your vantage point of the markers, in the aisle as well as at home on the bed. I like how you kept the self portrait simple and to the point. Just a beautiful picture of a beautiful lady, on a beautiful sunny day. I would have like to see a finished product of your artwork as a final photo, but you did a good job none the less. Great work!

  4. Hey Lauren,

Great job with your narrative, and I am so jealous that you went to AC Moore, as someone above me stated AC Moore is an artist’s toy store and it looks like you had a blast there and while taking these photos!
In regards to the technical aspect, you fulfilled the assignment’s goals. You fulfilled these goals through creating a narrative of your trip to AC Moore and further, the story did not end there but shows that your real narrative was getting pens so you could continue working on your drawings. I like that the subject is pens, but more your quest to achieve your drawing goal!
Regarding craftsmanship of the images, all of these images are so different but have very strong composition and design elements. The large DOF in the AC Moore shot was great because it shows all that is, whereas, choosing a smaller DOF for the pens highlights the ones more important to you. I wish in the third photo the pens were more in focus while the box was out of focus because I think that would add to your narrative, but either way the composition is so interesting! I like how you set up the photos of your drawings also, and the yellow pens works nicely with the yellow-ish color of the skull.
The technical aspects and craftsmanship of these images work together to create a strong visual statement about your quest to get more pens to continue your work. Great job!

  5. Very interesting narrative that you have here! It is very cool to see some of your own personal work included in the process. I very much like how it started off at the ax Moore but then it became a bit more morbid. With characters of skulls and a skull prop for the basis of the sketches. Very interesting work.

  6. Cool photos Lauren! I really enjoyed the color scheme in the second photograph and the DOF, it gives the picture a endless feeling with the repetition of the markers. The fourth one is really beautifully laid out too, the contrast of the yellow marker versus the muted nudes makes for a compelling focal point, and leaves me wanting to know more about the artist. The fifth photograph is my favorite, it ties together the whole bunch – telling a story from start-to-finish. Great artwork btw!
