  1. Hello Gabriel, your lucky you got a roof deck for this awesome weather and photo assignment the skyline shots are great. Technically all your photo's are done very well I'll start from the top. I like the Leaves in focus up against an out of focus background of what looks like two doors. It provided a good execution of shallow depth of field and i really like the way the light bounces off the leaves. I don't know what the doors in the background are supposed to convey to the viewer, or who's doors they are but it does raise questions and makes an interesting composition. The second photo is my favorite and it's awesome that you captured so much of the skyline and philadelphia (Northern Liberties?). I think it's interesting to show as much of the rooftops and the city as the sky and the skyline, it makes for an interesting perspective that not a lot of people get. The use of Large DOF helps to show the magnitude of the city in the photo. The self portrait also has the same affect on me and I like the composition of the sun shining over the brims of the clouds and your portrait, very beautiful. The bottom two are probably your least interesting photos and least descriptive of where you live. The railing has a good technique of shallow depth, but it's just a railing with sidewalk in the background. I think that if you chose a different angle to shoot this photo that could have shown the railing with something else that describes your environment it could have been a stronger photograph. The picture of the sandals, has kind of an interesting connotation that your feet are on some sort of ledge, but could have been dramatized more if they were up against something with more depth. If you perhaps split the frame with your feet and maybe what is over that edge it could have showed more depth. Other than that, good job completing the assignment.

  2. Hey Gabriel, Your images are great i really enjoy all of them. having a rooftop is awesome and im glad you chose to share a little bit of what thats like with us! i really enjoy your first two images, i love that you captured something green in the middle of the city, a place where thats very slim, i love how the background is similar in color but its blurred out so it doesnt blend to much. I lovvveeee the second image of the city view, who doesnt like a good city image. the sky and lower level buildings really help center city stand out and really kinda framed it very well. I also enjoy your self portrait, its great seeing the city in the back and i feel like your looking out into the rest of the city. Your final two images are good also but i feel you first two are defiantly the strongest. i think you did a great job on the assignment, good job!

  3. Hey Gabriel, awesome shots! I'm particularly drawn to the image with the leaves, first because of the colors, but the focusing is really nice, and how you choose to focus on the leaves and not the background, it implies that they are in a space, but the viewer is not completely sure where that space is. The city shot is a nice, non-typical shot of the city, and I love how you chose to include all the other buildings around where you took the image to create a texture around the subject. Really nice layering and compositions, great job!

  4. Hey Gabriela!
Nice work that you got here . I think the first photo is defiantly the favorite of the bunch. It has those common "buff" colors of philadelphia in the back round, with then nature on the foreground. The details are really nice and overall good job. The next two photos are a good progression and the top three all work together really nice. Your portaite and the the skyline are great. I have a problem with the last two.I think the picture of the railing and the sandals are not good. They seem like the warm up for the race. I just bet that you have seen some really interesting stuff around that area. That would be my advice and keep the the great work.

  5. Hi Gabriela! I really enjoyed this collection of photos. The first one has really great composition and symmetry with the two doors in the background and red brick dividing them. And then I love the focus of the green leaves in the foreground. The colors contrast very well and it reminds me of a tree-lined city street in the summer. Your next two pictures are great as well, exposing the city skyline in the background and really showing the magnitude of space. In your portrait I like that you are looking off into the distance as if gazing at a whole different expansive part of the city that the viewer cannot see. Finally I like the final picture of the sandals and the shadowing in the image. There is clearly a foreground, middle and background which gives the photo a lot of depth. Great work!
