  1. hey lauren, i really enjoy the different types of lighting you have i think its really cool how u used the tablet and tv as your light source in the top photo and the third photo, that was a really good idea. for the second one i enjoy all the lighting behind the little girl . For your self portoirt i like how you used the shadow from the camera to change the image a bit. good job

  2. I liked how you used everyday lighting to light your photos. In the first one, I like how the light behind your subject is bright but i think another light in front of the subject could have benefited to highlight the subject more. The front of the photo seems a bit too dark. The blown out sunlight in the background of the second photo is a little distracting from the baby, maybe cropping out the light to the right can make the focus of the photo your subject. Other than that, I think the lighting on her face is nice. It fades into a dull shadow as the light goes across her face, which i think highlights her face beautifully. The third picture also seems to be a bit dark. The light hitting his leg caught my eye after looking at it for a little while, but the dull light from the ipad causes his shirt to blend into the couch. Nice job this week!

  3. Hey Lauren,
Great environmental portraits of your family (?). I like how, as other said above, you tested light sources out to see the effects. All of your photos have different light sources which is cool! Technically speaking, you definitely satisfied the requirements of this assignment through the uniform nature of these photos as well as the fact they are all of portraits!
Compositionally, these photos work very well! I love the contrast seen in your first photo with the light source coming from behind the person as well as from the TV. In addition, I like the contrast of lights and darks in the photo. In the second photo, I really like the composition, her stare is so powerful/ she looks so in control or comfortable in front of the camera, to add to that intensity I wish the colors had been a little more dramatic or maybe in black and white? In the third photo, the highlights on his leg are what stand out and push forward whereas the darkness of the shirt and hair seem to almost blend into the couch. He looks so comfortable and is becoming one with the couch. Your self portrait is nice too, I like the overhead light, but for me there is a little too much distance between your head and the frame, but other than that great job!
Overall, you made a strong statement about capturing portraits in your home and the different ways in which you can do so. Great work!
