  1. Hey Alex, I gotta say the hands photo is my favorite and very awesome way to show a gradient of light with the hands as well. I see the most depth in this photo, cool abstract. I think your top two are really good technique of specural and maybe diffused lighting from the trees. theres something pure and enchanting in the one with the cobblestone walk. I like the composition and the contrast of all the different shades of shadow, it was a great choice to do a depth of field for the long alley way, It makes you wonder where she was coming from or had done to make that expression. The second one of her has great light as well, diffused from a building it looks like. The brick and wall on either side of her frame her well, and give the viewer a feeling of being mystery like maybe she is inviting you to go with her. The choice to have her slightly hidden behind the wall also enforces that alluring feeling. The last one, is a great idea of a self image within a photo. I like the technique to put yourself in her aviator reflection. Her face is well framed and softly lit, you notice her first and then remember that it was you that made her this subject. Well done. Good job completing the assignment.

  2. Whats good Alex? I have to admit that the hands picture jumps right out at me. The way you use the light to hide the other people gives the photo CG I effect. Its original and well done. In your self portrait beside you are beautiful in the photo, I like how you can see the photographer in your mirror sunglasses. If you wanted he could be the focus of the picture, and that's what makes that so great. its like your giving us 2 for 1. The top photo is well done as well. Your use of the natural light in your back ground makes the so clear and vibrant. The sun is glowing off the trees and the stone road. You captured the beauty of the day. All in all I believe you did a good job with this assignment.

  4. Hi Alex! Your pictures are my favorite out of this week. I feel like the shots of the woman in your photos had the Jason Mraz feel to them. The natural lighting and the happiness in her facial expressions makes me feel that his song was the inspiration. My favorite is the first photo, I think it's an interesting composition and I love the scenery behind her. It's also a great perspective to shoot from. The second image is awesome as well, it's a great shallow DOF and I like the mystery surrounding the idea of only part of her showing. Your hands photo is definitely a neat concept and visually appealing. I love the use of light here that includes cool shadows and how half your body is lit up. The self-portrait is awesome, it acts as two great portraits! Nice work!

  5. Hi Alex! Awesome photos once again and very creative. My favorite by far is the self-portrait with the hands illuminating in contrast to the dark background. Your use of artifical lighting is very well done and I love how it is directed very sharply to bring the views eyes exactly where you wanted them. I also really enjoy the first two photos and the varies DOF's you used with your model. The natural light give both images a very soft feel and I agree with Courtney that I originally thought of the Jason Mraz song. Great work!

  6. Hey Alex, great photos! I really enjoyed the large DOF in the first photo – the scene has a lot of depth, yet the focus is solely on the girl in the photo. The natural lighting the street and the trees is also very beautiful. I think the second one is my favorite, I really enjoy the compaction of the frame, and the secular lighting hitting the subjects face, and the trees in the background. It looks like you combined a lot of elements from past projects (the shallow DOF, the lightening) and it came in the photograph. The hands photograph is very striking and unique, a really great use of lighting. Overall, nice work!

  7. Alex,
Great photos. The one in particular with the hands is great. Props and making new realities is a very open field I think everyone should explore. All of the photos are crystal clear which is awesome. Portraits are a weird and crazy thing. and more or less some of the first most photographs liked talked about earlier in the semester. I think the top two in particular are nice potraits because of the elements that seem noticably added for the portrait story. So i think something to keep in mind try a prop or two next time.
