So many Colors: Assignment #5

  1. Hey Christine! Awesome subject matter you chose to shoot for this assignment. I love how you chose to capture flowers from the color spectrum. They're all great examples of a shallow DOF and images that are really well in focus. I like the cropping of each photo too because it helps enhance and make the flower the main focus. Some of them look like they have a natural frame which is nice. I think your 3rd, 4th and 5th photos are your strongest images as it really showcases the flower and the details of that flower. The vibrancy of each image is really great as well, the colors pop against the background. I also like your self-portrait! The background is really cool because it looks like it was shot in front of a lily pond. I think you definitely completed the assignment and chose a nice series. Great work!

  2. Hi Christine! I love the theme you chose for this assignment. This time of year there are so many beautiful flowers blooming thats it's easy to just pass by them without really taking in their beauty. I like how you chose so many different flowers to shoot and the low DOF. It really captured all of the details and the contrasting colors are so eye-pleasing. I like how your self-portrait keeps to the natural outdoor them. Great work!

  3. hello Christine. You did a great job with your narrative focusing on flowers. You picked flowers of all different colors and shapes, and It really shows the diversity of flowers in the world. I also like how your DOF is focused on the individual flowers and not the surroundings. The flowers are the main character and it shows. All of your photos are in focus and the colors are vibrant. You also did a good job with self portrait. The flowers that are in your background helps to keep the focus on the flowers in the previous photos. Good job!

  4. Hey Christine,

Great shots of flowers, they are all so vibrant and beautiful in their own natural way and this reminds me of Georgia O’Keefe and all of her flower paintings. Were you at a garden or do you have all of those flowers in your backyard, either way I am jealous!
In regards of the technical aspects of the assignment, you fulfilled the goals. You did so by choosing a subject, flowers, and creating a collection of them, each of which you shot from a similar angle with similar DOF and lighting. In your self photo one can also see flowers in the background so you even kept up that theme in your portrait!
Regarding craftsmanship, all of your images have strong composition as well as stunning colors, great choices in which flowers to take photos of. I really like the flower with the fly on it, and you seemed to have captured a moment right when the fly landed or is about to take off from the flower and I only wish the fly were also in focus! The photo right after it is great with the composition of the leaves going beyond the frame as well as the white of the petals against the green of the leaves, I also like the shallow DOF!
Overall, the technical aspects and craftsmanship of the images work together to create a strong visual statement about the beauty of flowers, which you captured so elegantly. Great job!

  5. You did a great job at capturing each of these flowers beautifully. The first one is perfectly framed and the shallow DOF makes the other colored bushes blend together to make the flower pop out even more. The third photo is such a unique angle and the shallow DOF adds a nice touch. The lighting in the last few pictures of the flowers seem a little dark, but overall all these photos are stunning!
