things in motion...

  1. These are really awesome! Your framing is great in each one, and you not only described the motion but how they move in each one. I really liked the first one how the flag sits to one side with so much negative space. It's really appropriate considering the flags at half mast, and makes the flag more glorious and the tone more solemn. I think it was really wise to capture it as a stop motion photograph and makes the picture very heavy in a good way. The second one is funny to me because I can't tell if you used stop motion or blurred motion, when you look at a book being flipped that is the way you see it with your eyes without a lens. I like the way you shot the book presented diagonally to the frame because it makes the book appear larger than it probably is, making the pages seem like they are speeding by. The third image is my favorite, It's so playful and funny. I like the inclusion of just the arms and how the picture is snapped as the stuffed monster hits the wall. It leaves the viewer wondering why you are throwing this into the wall? ?s the monster scarred or in pain haha? Is the person throwing it angry or playing? Only you know. Overall, this one was my favorite and I think you really did a great job capturing a moment only the camera could have seen. You definitely completed the assignment.

  2. all of your images show motion extremely well, you captured so many things that are always moving that we never really notice, your framing of each really direct the eye to what you want them to look at. i really enjoy the image of the book pages moving, it such a simple image but when you flip though a book it happens so fast and you really captured that moment and direct the eye right to it, it creates a very interesting image. i also enjoy the one with the flag because is something we wee everyday but never think about, they are always moving and you really captured the direction of the wing so you not only captured the movement of the flag but showed the wind movement around you its really a in interesting photo. overall i feel all you images really captured the assignment and keep the viewer interested.

  3. These images are so cool! I like the variety of each image. I struggled with trying to capture the motion of a flag blowing in the wind, but I think you nailed it! I like how there is a lot of the background showing because it some how still allows for the flag to be the star and main focus of the photo. It makes you wonder how windy was this day because you were able to capture the flag blowing so vividly. The second photo is my favorite. I think it is the definition of motion. You were able to capture each stop motion of the page moving. The last photo is great as well because you were able to shoot something moving in mid air. Overall, I like the everyday subject matter you chose because through your images you were able to turn them into something or at least make the viewer think about them in a way that we would've have originally. I think you definitely completed the assignment with really interesting photos!

  4. Great work! I really like the composition of the first shot, its very simple and since there isn’t much going on except the flag, the viewer is forced to concentrate on the little details shown, which makes for a really compelling photo. I think you capture motion really great, the wave of the flag, and the different creases show us a visual representation of wind that the human eye really wouldn’t have been able to see otherwise. The second one is also really awesome, the think the shadows and the lighting make a simple object like the book and turn it into something beautiful. I like the yellow tint on the pages gives the subject some depth, against the white pages and blue cover. The blur of the background also makes the viewer concentrate more on the book itself, and makes for aesthetically pleasing shot. I really love the muted colors of the wall in the third shot, opposed to the dark, contrast of the toy animal being thrown against the wall. I also like the shadow it creates in the process. I love the way the hands are very clean, and show in focus, and you can see the hint of light reflect on the front outer-arm, which gives the photo an interesting texture, in comparison to a furry monster.

  5. Each of these pictures perfectly capture a moment in motion, stopping the subjects in the middle of their action. The photo of the flag also gives the viewer a more detailed look of how it looks as it catches the wind, something that can't normally be seen. I especially like the photo of the domo doll, where the picture is taken just before it hits the wall. I feel like that is the perfect example of motion being stopped.
The photo of the book with the pages being flipped is great too, its a good image of how quickly the pages are moving as the thumb releases them. I just wish there was something inside of it. Maybe some writing or sketches? I feel like it would be a nice touch to show something a little about yourself. But besides that it is a great photo.
Overall you successfully completed this weeks assignment in motion. All of your photos do an excellent job in capturing that instant of movement for all of these subjects. They are creative and well thought out, I look forward to seeing the rest of your photos for this semester.
